A frenchman finds himself in a Village in Galicia;
When a local , Marce, helps the man pick something up from the floor , he replies “Merci beacoup”
Why did Marce slap him?

I’ll tell you a much, much better one.
The direct Galician translation of the French O h , m a i s n o n ! is...
“
ˇ
H
o

”

“ Beacoup” has the same sound as “nice ass” in Galician.
So Marce bent over to pick the thing up and the French person was miss understood as saying “ Marce has a nice ass”

I once learned the hard way that saying “Hazme/Hagame el favor de...” in a lot of Spain is slang for basically asking for sex.
